ESN: Workers who shielded soldiers in Orlu have been sacked – Charles Aluminum boss
The Chief Executive Officer of Charles Aluminum, Mr Charles, has said workers of the company who were involved in harboring some men of the Nigerian army, during the Orlu crisis between the soldiers and personnel of the Eastern Security Network in Orlu have been sacked by the company’s management.
Mr Charles who also apologized to the entire Eastern Security Network over the incident, was reacting to a 3-days-ultimatum issued by the security outfit “to produce the company’s workers – who rescued some fleeing soldiers – or face the consequences.
The Eastern Security Network had issued the warning to the company after a physical combat with the soldiers in Orlu, Imo State on January 25.
The conflict which resulted to the death of about ten persons, including civilians, ensued after ESN were attacked in the bush by the military men.
In a live program with one Mr Prince Darlington on Thursday, Mr Charles promised never to employ workers from the Fulani ethnic group into his company.
He faulted the incident to the Fulani worker who served as a security personnel in the company.
According to Charles, “I am a Biafran, I will never be a traitor to my own people. I love my people and that is why I have decided established a branch of this company in my own home town to ensure employment for them.”
He also said the Eastern Security Network were in Orlu to protect the civilians against the invasion by the Nigerian soldiers.
“The security man has been sacked and also the man that was following them behind has also been sacked,” he added.
