According to the NIMC Director General Aliyu Aziz, about 15 million BVN have been linked to the NIMC database. This means that you don’t necessarily need to go to NIMC offices to get your NIN. All you need to do is go to the website and update your records and the you would have your NIN. This information was gathered when The DG of NIMC spoke with The Guardian in Abuja, yesterday.

DG Aliyu Aziz also spoke about the strike action embarked by some NIMC staff and how the commission can do more in fulfilling it’s mandate to Nigerians.
The DG explaining how to get your NIN with just your BVN
This is a really great news for many reasons. For most Nigerians it has become almost impossible to meet up with the NIN registrations. Most NIMC offices are overcrowded. NIMC stopped registration for sometime too as they announced a strike that lasted for just a day. Also due to the COVID 19 it is safer to stay away from over crowded places.
What do you think about this recent development?
Does the NIMC deserve commendation for this new and easier procedure?
Is the NIN registration even necessary at this time?
